Stonethwaite Farm Campsite is in a stunning location, next to the high fells with Stonethwaite Beck running through it. There is room for 60 pitches, it has cold running water, toilets, pot wash facilities and reed bed system for waste. It is accessible down a rough narrow track, which is suitable for small camper vans. The campsite is situated on a SSSI area (Site of Special Scientific Interest) so fires and and the removal of anything from the site is not permitted. However barbecues are allowed.
All the high fells are easily accessible from the site as is the locally famous Black Moss Pot swimming dub, which is worth a visit in the summer.
Keswick the historic market town is 6 miles away and home to a wide variety of outdoor, camping and walking shops. It also has the new ‘King Kong Climbing Centre’ which has indoor climbing, caving, bouldering, kids hard and soft play areas. They will also organise outdoor activities for you, outdoor climbing, ghyll scrambling and plenty other adrenelin fuelled activities! it is certainly worth a vist. There is also a leisure pool, cinema and several beautiful parks. In fact in packed with loads of things to do if you’ve had enough of the fells!
