Stonethwaite Farm Cottage and Campsite is situated deep in the heart of the beautiful and renowned Borrowdale Valley. The cottage is on a traditional working fell farm, which has approximately 500 lowland acres and 3000 fell acres. We have in the region of 800 Herdwick sheep, a hardy mountain breed, belted Galloway cows, a variety of hens, which roam freely round the farm. The farm, cottage and campsite is run by Nick Gill who have had the property for a number of years and have a wealth of local knowledge.
Created by Alfred Wainwright, the Coast to Coast Walk crosses the North of England from the Irish Sea at St Bees to the North Sea at Robin Hoods Bay. Wainwright’s Coast to Coast Walk passes through some of the most beautiful and varied scenery in the country: the rugged mountains and beautiful lakes of the Lake District, the rolling hills and pretty valleys of the Yorkshire Dales and the expansive heather moorland of the North York Moors, with some dramatic coastal scenery at each end.
